Founder/Owner: Daijah Saunders

Daijah was born and raised in Detroit, MI, and has always enjoyed baking with her mother since she was a little girl. During the holidays, she always helped her mother prepare the desserts.

She first began selling desserts such as pound cake and muffins in high school (Renaissance High School) as a side hustle until she graduated. During her freshman year in college at WCCCD, she started another business in customizing shoes and other items (Bedazzled Essentials) until that chapter had ended.

When COVID-19 hit, she attended Central Michigan University, where she was unemployed for some time. Daijah then decided to take a leap of faith and started baking again.

Despite the circumstances faced, she started selling Apple cinnamon muffins and Pound cake (same options in high school) and slowly gained exposure on campus for selling baked goods.

In August 2020, Dessert Essentials was created.
