"Will Your School Rule?" at Oakland Mall is a contest where schools can compete for the chance to win cash! Congratulations to the 15 schools that were selected to compete this year! The competition is simple and anyone can help out his or her favorite school! All you have to do is shop at Oakland Mall between September 30, 2008 and March 31, 2009 and take your receipts to the Information Center on the lower level near JCPenney. A Customer Service Representative will record how much you spent, stamp your receipts, and return them to you. Just remember to turn your receipts in within 60 days of your purchase and they must be from stores within Oakland Mall. Schools get one point for every dollar spent and must reach 10,000 points by December 31st, 2008 to stay in the competition. See below for information on bonus point & double point opportunities! In April, the school with the most points wins! Cash prizes will be awarded as follows...
1st Place - $5,000 3rd Place - $1,250
2nd Place - $2,500 4th-15th Places - $600

Bonus Point Opportunities
Each school has the chance to earn bonus points, and is eligible for up to 1,000 points per month. To earn bonus points, simply advertise the contest. Some ideas include putting the logo and information in your school newsletter or newspaper, sending a letter home to parents, talking about the competition at a PTA/PTO meeting and putting it on the agenda, and hanging posters or banners in or around your school. These are just a few ideas and you are welcome to be creative and use other means of promoting the competition. You may download the logo and letterhead below for your use. To make sure you get the bonus points, please send proof of the advertisement (i.e. photo, copy of newsletter, etc.) to:

Deadline for submitting materials for December bonus points is Tuesday, January 6, 2009. Please specify which month the bonus points are for when you submit the materials. For bonus points to be counted towards the 10,000 points needed to stay in the contest, those materials must be submitted by 12pm (Noon) Wednesday, December 31, 2008.

Each month, five stores will be worth double points! That means that when you make a purchase at a selected
double point store during the designated month, you will earn two points for every dollar spent there!
